Privacy Policy

Caring for a pet often means coordinating with other people. PetTandem helps you organize routines, medication-related instructions and records, and shared responsibilities. This policy explains what information is involved, how it is used, and what choices you have. It covers the PetTandem iPhone app, pettandem.app, and support communications.

Who is responsible for your information

PetTandem is operated by the operator who decides how personal information is used for the service (“we”, “us”, “our”). For privacy questions or requests, write to support@pettandem.app. For general inquiries, write to contact@pettandem.app.

Information involved when you use PetTandem

The information processed depends on what you choose to do in the app.

  • When you sign in: an account identifier, an email address and, when your sign-in provider supplies it, a name or display name. If you choose Sign in with Apple, you may be able to hide your email address using Apple's private relay option. Apple and Google process information in connection with their sign-in services under their own policies.
  • When you create a pet profile: pet details and care information you enter, such as a pet's name, routines, schedules, instructions, medications and notes. Some entries can contain personal information about people if you decide to include it, so please avoid adding unnecessary sensitive information about others.
  • When you organize care: tasks, due dates, completion or medication status, activity history and handoff records created as you use the service. These records can include which authorized team member performed or recorded an activity.
  • When you invite people: the invitee's email address, invitations and their status, care-team memberships, roles and pet-specific access permissions.
  • When you contact us: your email address, your message and anything you choose to send to help us answer. Please do not send passwords or unnecessary sensitive information.
  • When you visit our website: technical request information, which may include IP address, requested URL, time of the request and browser or user-agent information, is processed to deliver and protect the site.

Authentication, device, connection and diagnostic information may also be processed by the services needed to run the app.

Why we use this information

We process information to:

  • set up and secure accounts and keep people signed in;
  • save and synchronize pets, instructions, routines, schedules and care records;
  • show each person the information their role and permissions allow them to access;
  • send and manage care-team invitations and coordinate handoffs;
  • provide reminders and notifications when supported and enabled;
  • respond to questions, investigate problems, and maintain service reliability and security;
  • meet applicable legal requirements and respond to valid legal requests.

Where the law requires us to identify a legal basis, it may include performing our agreement with you for core app functions, legitimate interests for proportionate security and support, legal obligations, or consent where a feature or law calls for it. The basis depends on the activity and applicable law, and consent can be withdrawn where processing depends on it.

We use information that is necessary to operate the features you request. An account identifier and a means of signing in are necessary for account-based features. Optional profile details and care notes are supplied at your choice. Without necessary details, the matching functionality may not work.

Sharing with your care team

PetTandem is designed for collaborative care. When you invite a household member or caregiver, the app may make pet profiles, relevant routines, medication instructions, task history and handoff information available to that person according to their assigned role and pet access.

Depending on permissions, team members may view relevant information, record care activities, or manage certain aspects of a pet's care. Invite only trusted people and review permissions when care arrangements change.

Removing someone from a care team or revoking access is meant to prevent future access through the app. It cannot necessarily retrieve information a person has already seen, exported, photographed or copied outside PetTandem.

Shared pet care information can include information contributed by several users. What happens to shared records when an account is deleted is explained in Deleting your account and on our Account Deletion page.

Reminders and notifications

If reminders or notifications are enabled, relevant scheduling information may be used to display care reminders. You can change notification permissions in iOS settings. Turning off notifications does not by itself delete tasks, medication instructions or care history.

Notifications and task statuses help organize care. They are not confirmation that a pet has received treatment or that a reminder was delivered or read.

Providers and other recipients

We use external services to help provide sign-in, app infrastructure, storage and synchronization, website hosting, application distribution and email handling. They may process information relevant to the service they provide. We also share care information with people you authorize through care-team features, as described above.

If required by law, we may disclose information in response to valid legal obligations or to address security and misuse. We do not publish your private pet care records as a public directory.

Service providers that process data on our behalf are expected to be subject to applicable contractual or legal data-protection obligations. Sign-in and App Store services also have their own privacy notices. Any material analytics, advertising, payment or other data recipients introduced later will be reflected in this policy.

Website and email communications

The website does not currently use analytics tags, advertising pixels or tracking cookies, and fonts and images are served from our own server. It uses technical logs for delivery, security and troubleshooting. Web-server logs are rotated by size (up to 10 MB across 3 log files), not on a fixed number of days, so this is not a guarantee of a particular retention period.

Emails sent to support@pettandem.app and contact@pettandem.app are forwarded to the operator's email inbox using an email-routing provider. Forwarding is not an end-to-end encrypted messaging service. We use received messages to handle requests and keep related correspondence for as long as reasonably required for support and applicable obligations.

Our Website Cookies and Tracking notice describes the website technologies currently known. If tracking practices change, we will update it and obtain any consent the law requires.

Security

We use reasonable measures appropriate to the service, including sign-in controls and app access permissions, to reduce unauthorized access. Please also protect your devices and sign-in accounts. No online system can be guaranteed completely secure.

How long information is kept

We keep account and pet-care information while it is needed to operate active accounts and shared care arrangements. We may keep particular records for a longer or shorter period when needed for service operation, security, a lawful request or a legal obligation. Website logs are managed by size-limited rotation rather than a guaranteed number of days. Support correspondence is kept while needed to respond to and administer the request, subject to applicable requirements.

We do not state a fixed retention period where none has been established. When we no longer need personal information, it should be deleted or de-identified under the applicable deletion procedure.

Deleting your account and data

PetTandem is intended to provide an in-app Delete account control. To request deletion, use that control in your account settings and follow the confirmation steps. You can also contact support@pettandem.app for help, but email support is not meant to be the only way to start deletion.

Account deletion should remove your account and associated personal information, unless keeping specific information is legally required. Care records shared with others need special handling so that other people's records are not misrepresented, and we cannot yet state exactly which shared records, backups or logs remain.

See Account Deletion for the steps and further explanation.

Your rights and choices

Depending on applicable law, you may be able to request access to your personal information, correction, deletion, restriction of or objection to certain processing, portability, or withdrawal of consent. You may also have the right to complain to an appropriate data-protection authority.

In-app controls may let you edit care details, change memberships or revoke pet access, subject to your role. For requests you cannot complete in the app, email support@pettandem.app. We may need reasonable verification of your identity before responding. See also Privacy Choices.

International processing

PetTandem uses online services that may process information outside the country where you live. The locations, providers and any required transfer arrangements depend on the deployed app and applicable law.

Children

PetTandem is intended for people responsible for organizing a pet's care and is not designed for children. If you believe information about a child has been provided inappropriately, email support@pettandem.app.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy if our features or information practices change. The effective date identifies the version in force. Where the law requires additional notice or consent for material changes, we will provide it.
